The lighting is very well done in this painting. Parts of the house and yard are brightened by the sun light (enhanced by the choice of yellow for house).

The shadowing is accurately portrayed. It is clear the garden area is shaded, but there is still a soft light present, as would be the case in a garden shaded by trees in the bright, daytime sun.

This painting will really bring out the yellows in your room, much as the bright yellow home brings out the yellow flowers in the garden.
